Situated in the city of Ubud, in the heart of Bali island, the Sacred Monkey Forest it’s a magnificent place where you can find more than 900 macaques.
Inside Bali’s heart
The Monkey Forest is not only the place where the monkeys live, but is also a place with great vegetation: in fact, the jungle has more than 180 trees species in 125 hectares of natural reserve. Furtheremore, in the middle of the forest, there are also three sacred Hindu temples: Pura Dalem, Pura Beji and Pura Prajapati.

Tickets and opening hours
The Monkey Forest is open everyday from 8.30 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. The ticket costs 80.000 IDR for adults and 60.000 for children until 12 years. The best hours to visit the forest are at 8.30 in the morning and after 2 p.m., because the monkeys have been feed and they are more relaxed.

Advices
Normally, monkeys are not aggressive but as every wild animals, they can be; for this reason is a good idea to read these advices:
- Do not watch monkeys in the eyes because they can think you want to attack them.
- Do not feed the monkeys with your own food; if you want, you can buy some fruit inside the park.
- Keep your bags closed.
- Do not keep plastic bags or bottles in your hands: the monkeys can steal them.
- Do not wear sunglasses, jewels or everything that attract the monkeys.
- Do not get bitten; monkeys are vaccinated but they can be sick; if a monkey bite you, call immediately the Monkey Forest staff.
However, relax and enjoy the visit; you are going to visit one of the few places in the world where you can stay with the monkeys in the middle of the jungle!

Really cool! I’ve always wanted to go to Bali. With as much time as I’ve spent in Asia, I’m surprised I haven’t been yet.
